Debates Worthy of This Body and This Country

  • State of The Union Address 2015

I didn’t have time for the State of the Union Address President Obama presented just two short hours ago. Instead, I went looking for the highlights of the speech, and found a much welcome 24-point summary by Frank Gruber. It concisely gave me exactly what I was looking for, so much so, a part of it is being shared with you here.

That headline, by the way, is a partial quote regarding bipartisanship…

Our source article is worthy enough to have all 24 points shared, but we legally not allowed to do that, so here’s a select few:

Economy: “After a breakthrough year for America, our economy is growing & creating jobs at the fastest pace since 1999.”

Child Care: “It’s not a nice-to-have—it’s a must-have. It’s time we stop treating child care as a side issue.”

Women’s Rights: “Congress…needs to pass a law that makes sure a woman is paid the same as a man for doing the same work. Really—it’s 2015.”

Taxes: “We need a tax code that truly helps working Americans.”

Climate Change: “2014 was the warmest year on record. The best scientists in the world are telling us we are changing the climate. The Pentagon says that climate change poses immediate risks to our national security. We should act like it.”

There are 19 other points, as Gruber explains, the topics addressed are “based in optimism, resilience, rebuilding, bedrock values, and creating change”.

You’ll want to bookmark/favorite his page that has the remainder of the President’s quotes on:

…please check what was reported as the President’s quotes for those!

For now, we leave you with this news brief, sharing the final two quotes:

In closing: “My only agenda for the last two year is to believe what i believe is right for America.”

Final Thoughts: “A brighter future is ours to write. Let’s begin this new chapter together and let’s start that work right now.”
