Improbable Predictions On The Simpsons that Came True

FIFA Definitely is Not Safe

In 2015 some of the top board members from FIFA (the football association) got arrested and later indicted by the IRS and FBI. They laundered money and were a part of an organized crime known as racketeering. This well-known scandal also included around $100 million in bribes in regards to the releasing of FIFA’s marketing and media rights. Prior to the scandal, in 2014 Germany won the World Cup.

Homer was asked to be a referee in the World Cup in a Simpsons episode in 2014. Of course, in the episode, the V.P. of FIFA also got arrested for corruption and Germany won the World Cup. Later in 2015 it actually happened that way too!

A Cross Between Tomatoes and Tobacco

The Simpson family moved to a farm where Homer attempted to grow crops in a 1990 episode. In order to help the plants grow, Homer decided to add plutonium. A cross between tobacco and tomatoes were the result of Homer’s experimentation and later the cross between the two was given the name “Tomacco.”

Ironically in 2013, some weird vegetables were found near a nuclear power plant in Japan. Included in the strange vegetables was a weird tomato which just so happened to look like what Homer made in the 1990 episode.

Predicting Trump Will Become President

Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. presidential election, but what’s crazy is that back in 2000 The Simpsons already ‘knew’ that! When Bart flashes forward into adulthood in that episode from 2000, we learn that not only does Lisa become president, but she also inherited “quite a budget crunch” from the previous President, Donald Trump.

As we know, during the 2000 episode, Trump’s presidency was still 16 years away! In a 2016 interview, a writer from The Simpsons named Dan Greaney said in an interview that it was a warning to the country because the show’s writers at the time felt that America was slowly going insane.

The Simpsons are always one step ahead of everything.
