Debunked! These Well-known ‘Facts’ Turned Out To Be Wrong

Earth Will Experience Total Darkness

There’s a rumor out there that says that every few years earth will experience a week or more of total darkness. Preppers who believe this may have their bug out shelter prepped and ready just in case this darkness scenario is, in fact, an end of the world precursor.

There’s no doubt that some portions of the earth don’t see the sun for up to a few months every year (think of Alaska and their limited amount of sunlight), it’s definitely not due to an EMP, solar storm or catastrophic event as some of the rumors have said in the past.
While it’s always a good idea to be ready for whatever comes your way, that doesn’t mean go into panic mode and buy the most expensive shelter out there. Disasters can happen, but it’s unlikely the earth will experience total darkness for a few days let alone a week.

Coca Cola Will Dissolve Our Bones and Flesh

You may have heard of a forwarded email that’s been around for ages that made a lot of claims about Coca-Cola. It basically says that Coca-Cola is bad to the bone (literally!) and that a single can of Coke can dissolve an entire tooth and police have used it to clean blood off of highways. That’s pretty awful, right? Yes, Coke contains a small amount of corrosive acid, but it’s actually less than what your stomach contains!

With that knowledge you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that your favorite can of Coke isn’t dissolving the teeth in your mouth. If you can stay away from soda it’s a good idea to do so, but you don’t have to worry about it dissolving your flesh like a sci-fi creature. Drink up, but do so in moderation.
